Preschool and PreKindergarten
NEW Families (K-12)
Welcome to Richfield Public Schools - we are excited to meet you!
Step One
To begin the enrollment process, please complete the K-12 Interest Form.
Step Two
In the next 2-3 business days, you will receive the rest of the enrollment paperwork and details onnext steps in the enrollment process.Some of the paperwork you will need includes:
- Student Enrollment Form
- Student Immunization Form
- Minnesota Language Survey
- Minnesota Ethnic and Racial Demographics Form
- Health Emergency Form
- Birth certificate (or other reliable proof of student identity and age)
- Early childhood screening results
Step Three
Once we receive all of the necessary paperwork, your enrollment is complete!
- Fall enrollment: You will receive information from your child's school in early-mid August.
- Mid-year enrollment/transfer:You will receive information from your child's school within 10 business days.
Current Families (K-12)
Enrolling additional students is easy! If you already have a child attending Richfield Public Schools, you can enroll other children through your existing ParentVUE account.
- Log into ParentVUE.
- Click onRegistration/iUpdate in the upper right hand corner.
- Complete the registration.
- In 2-3 days your registration will be processed. The status of your registration is viewable by logging into ParentVUEand clicking on Status in the upper right hand corner.
If you did not set up a ParentVUE account or are unable to log in, please contact our enrollment team for assistance.
Open Enrollment (K-12)
Welcome to Richfield Public Schools! Did you know that 17% of our current families live outside of Richfield? We welcome open-enrolled students!
Step One

Summer Enrollment Center
New Student Enrollment: Summer Hours & Location
If you are enrolling your child for the first time in any Richfield Public School, you can complete this process at the Central Education Center from now through August 26.
- Location: The Central Education Center at 7145 Harriet Ave., door 1
- Pick up enrollment forms: Monday through Friday from 8 a.m.-4 p.m.
Please bring the following documents with you to your drop-off appointment:
- Birth certificate, baptismal certificate, passport/visa or official state/US document indicating your child’s full legal name and birthdate
- Immunization records
- Proof of residency (utility bill, lease, etc.)
- Open enrollment form (if not a Richfield resident)
- Transcript from previous district (grades 6-12 only)
- Early childhood screening results (kindergarten only)
Extended pickup and drop-off hours (no appointment necessary):
- August 13-15

If your family is currently experiencing homelessness, such as staying in a shelter, hotel or temporarily with others, we can help make sure your child has stability in their education through the McKinney-Vento Homeless Act.For help in accessing these services, please contact your school's social worker, counselor, outreach worker or principal.

First Year Home-Schooling
If this is your first-year home-schooling, if youare returning to home-schooling after being enrolled in public school or ifyou have a new address, please complete theInitial Registration Form for Unaccredited Nonpublic Schools.
Per Minnesota Statutes, section 120A.24, subdivision 1, Information in the registration form must be submitted:
- By October 1 of the first school year the child receives instruction after reaching the age of seven;
- Within 15 days of when a parent withdraws a child from public school after age seven to provide instruction in a nonpublic school that is not accredited by a state-recognized accredited agency;
- Within 15 days of moving out of a district; and,
- By October 1 after a new resident districts is established.
Home-Schooling Continuation
If you home-schooled last year and are continuing to home-school the next school year, you will need to complete theLetter of Intent to Continue to Provide Instruction.In addition, if you have a student age 12 (grade 7) you will need to submit new vaccination records or a notarized conscientious objection statement. These forms are due by 3 p.m on October 1 of the school year.
Reimbursem*nt Information
To request reimbursem*nt for home-school expenses, you will need to complete theMemorandum of Agreementand Student Report for Aids to Non-Public Students (ED-01650-34)by 3 p.m. onOctober 1.If you plan to use funds, do not check the non-participation boxes on this form.
When filing for reimbursem*nt, use this Reimbursem*nt Request Form and submit it with applicable purchase receipts to the district homeschool liaison.
Special Education Services for Home-Schooling
Students with disabilities who are home-schooled in Richfield and who meet the Minnesota criteria for special education may be eligible to receive special education programs/services through the Richfield School District.If you suspect that your child has a disability, or if they have a current Individualized Education Program (IEP) and you would like your child to access special education services, contact us at 612-243-3002 orcommunityeducation@rpsmn.org.
