    My claim was closed June 6,2012 and I was awarded $1512 which was on the AB8. I noticed a deposit, 06/08/2012Deposit - US TREASURY 310 XXVA BENEF$2,227.00 Is this typically how VA disability payments appear as in the transactions? I haven't received my brown envelope yet so this is new. I do get regular Ch.33 benefits and they have never been the same. They appear like this. 06/05/2012Deposit - VAED TREAS 310 XXVA CH33$x,xxx.xx

        Thanks. One more question, do the payments show up in the payment history?
        This one isn't.

          Jun 10, 2012#5

          While looking at my RAS this was at the bottom

          BASED ON THE COMPENSATION AMOUNT YOU RECEIVE FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF VETERANS AFFAIRS(VA)
          AND YOUR RETIRED PAY, YOUR CONCURRENT RETIREMENT DISABILITY PAY(CRDP) AMOUNT IS
          $1,365.00. PLEASE SEE WWW.DFAS.MIL/RETIREDMILITARY.HTML FOR MORE INFORMATION ABOUT THE
          CRDP ENTITLEMENT.

          Nothing about the payment I received yet.

            I believe he is referring to the payment history on eBenefits. VA payments are not going to show up on your RAS.

              The RAS will not contain details of your pay from the VA. It will only identify the amount of any "VA withhold" that is returned to you within your retirement pay.

              Based on your claim being closed on 06/05/2012 it appears that DFAS has received notification and has adjusted your retired pay to incorporate the VA decision. This assumes that the CRDP amount shown does not applyfrom a previous disability. This does not apply to any back pay that might be owed since that will be determined by the so-called audit that will come later. It does mean that future retirement pay will include in the gross amount due the $1,365.

              Also, based on the decision dateand the fact that VA has notified DFAS the VA disability pay for June '12 should be $1512 and would be deposited around 1 Jul '12. The $2,227 is VA disability and is obviously back pay that VA can pay, depending on your individual situation, without waiting for a DFASaudit.This does not mean that it is all of the back pay that is due. That is determined by the audit.

              WhileVA and disability are interrelated they are too separate things and it is better to think of them in that way.

                So, I got the brown envelope, which was brown, today.
                It says the award amount is this

                Total VA Benefit Amount Withheld Amount Paid Effective Date Reason for Change
                $ 1,461.00 $ 1,336.00 $ 125.00 1-Jan-11 Original Award/Retired Pay Adjustment
                $ 1,512.00 $ 1,370.00 $ 142.00 1-Dec-11 Cost of Living Adjustment, Retired Pay Adjustment
                $ 1,512.00 $ - $ 1,512.00 1-Jun-12 Retired Pay Adjustment ends

                n/m...found it herehttp://vets.yuku.com/topic/77686/Initia ... 9aQyrBDyz5

                I should receive 11 months x $1,336 + 6 months x $1,370 + $1,512 = $24,428

                  Based on the information you provided and a couple of assumptions I made about your retirement being treated under CRDP as normal length of service retirement the following conclusions can be made:

                  Your awarded disability pay is greater than your retired pay, hence VA can pay you the difference immediately in back pay. That is where the $2227 payment came from (125 x 11 = 1375; and 142 x 6 = 852. The sum was paid to you.

                  You will receive $1512 from VA on 1 July for your June pay and that amount monthly in the future.

                  Since your disability is less than 100% there is still a small amount that will be withheld from your retired pay. Since a very high percentage is now being returned it will be a very small amount (looks like about $5).

                  The small withholds will also apply to the back pay due so the withholds of $1,336 and $1,370 will not be totally returned as you calculated. I would estimate that your total additional back pay will probably be about $100 shy of what you calculated or possibly slightly higher. It is in the noise level.

                    Yes, my retirement pay drops $5.
                    I added my July payment. It should be $22,916.
