Can my child turn off Family Link? ›

On the day they turn 13, children can choose whether they want to manage their own Google Account or continue to have their parent manage it for them. As a parent, you can also choose to remove supervision at any time when the child is over the age of 13.

Parents can access their child's account data, like emails, by signing in to the child's account. If you don't know the password, you can reset their password. Note: You can only reset your child's password if you created their account in Family Link and they're under 13 (or the applicable age in your country).

Tip: You can also use your Family Link parent access code to unlock your child's Android device or Chromebook if it isn't connected to the Internet. You can let your child spend more time on their device for the day without changing their daily limit or downtime schedule.

Important: You can delete accounts only for children under 13. If your child is older than 13, they need to delete the account themselves.

To remove a child, scroll down and select Manage my child's profile info, select the child, select Remove consent for this child's account, and confirm. Go back to your family's page, and under the child's name, select More options > Remove from family, and confirm.

If you're using Google Family Link to manage a child's account, you can end account supervision once the child turns 13—until then, you can only adjust the child's Play Store restrictions in the Family Link app.
