The Rat Pack Comes to TPAC – The Rat Pack – Live at the Sands is the acclaimed production which vividly recreates a legendary evening at the Sands Hotel with the most famous performers of our time: Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr. and Dean Martin. Pottery by Ken Shipley at Customs House – Artist Ken Shipley will host a reception in celebration of his Customs House exhibition From France to China: An Enchanted Journey from 6 – 8 p.m. Shipley spent two months this past summer as an artist-in-residence at Vallauris, France, and was then invited to participate in an exhibit in China. Strings of Fire Comes to TPAC – Strings of Fire is a lively, interactive show with Ramón Romero and the Cuerdas de Fuego Ensemble. The internationally renowned artists use a variety of fun-to-watch techniques to play traditional and contemporary music from Latin America. Featuring Romero on the harp, Santiago Maldonado of Mexico on guitar and vocals, and percussionist Carlos Caro of Cuba, Strings of Fire will be at the Tennessee Performing Arts Center’s James K. Valentine’s Day Murder Mystery Excursion Train – You and your sweetheart can become detectives on the Valentine’s Day Murder Mystery Excursion Train from Nashville to Watertown and back. You’ll ride in a comfortable restored classic 1950s era American streamlined stainless steel passenger train. While enroute to and from Watertown you’ll enjoy a murder mystery play performed right in your own car. During the layover in Watertown, shop the stores on the Public Square and visit the local restaurants for lunch. There is free parking at the boarding location, 220 Willow St., Nashville, Tenn. Departure time is 9 a.m. with boarding starting at 8:30 a.m. Return to Nashville will be about 3:30 p.m. Tickets range from $29 – $60 for adults and $18 for children age 2-18. • Eagles Club Sweethearts Dance – The Eagles Club is offering middle school students a chance to dance, have fun and hang out with friends at the Sweethearts Dance at Taylor Youth Center from 7 – 10 p.m. All youth in sixth to eighth grade are invited to attend. Tickets to the dance are $5 for members and $8 for non-members. Punch and cookies will be served and there will be chances to win door prizes throughout the evening. • Choosing Sides for Basketball at D.W. Rec. – Choosing Sides for Basketball is a charming, contemporary play about friendship, love and feelings. It is a celebration of childhood with all its joys and changes revolving around children waiting to be chosen for basketball teams. Super Comedy Jam Fest in Hoptown – The Super Comedy Jam Fest is coming to the James E. Bruce Convention Center in Hopkinsville. Witness the Comic View Battle of the Sexes with the B.E.T. all-stars, Broman, Cocoa Brown, Disco Duck, Barbara Carlyle, Smoke, Big E, and the world famous Jack’O. The show starts at 8 p.m. and the doors open at 6 p.m. Tickets may be purchased in advance at the ITR Leisure Travel office in the Main PX for $25. • Valentines Mixed Doubles at Hooper -Grab your sweetheart for a post-Valentine’s Day date, and head over to Hooper Bowling Center for Valentines Mixed Doubles. Registration starts at 1 p.m. and the bowlers take to the lanes at 2 p.m. The entry fee for the mixed doubles tournament is $15. Couples will bowl three games and there will be a payout to the top two positions. (270) 798-5887.

Fort Donelson’s 145th Anniversary – Visit with members of the 50th TN Infantry Regiment (CSA) as they portray camp and Soldier life during the 1862 Battle for Fort Donelson. This unit actually served at Fort Donelson during the battle. The unit will demonstrate military training, clothing and equipment. The camp will be open from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Come back on Feb. 24 to visit with members of the 9th Kentucky Infantry (USA) as they portray Civil War camp life, military drill and training. The camp will be open from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Feb. 24 and 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Feb. 25. Musket firings demonstrations will be conducted at 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. each day. All programs are free and open to the public. Encampments may be canceled by inclement weather. • 3-Club Golf Tournament at Cole Park – Take a break from work and take on a new challenge on the golf course at Cole Park Golf Club. To participate in the 3-club tournament, golfers must choose three clubs to use for the round, and only those three clubs may be used. Registration for the tournament is $20 for members and $25 for non members. Tee time for the 3-Club Tournament is 8:30 a.m. shotgun. (270) 798-4906.

• Fashion and Step Show at D.W. Rec. – As part of African-American History Month, the Equal Opportunity Office is hosting a fashion show and step show at the Dale Wayrynen Recreation Center from 3 – 6 p.m. The fashion show will feature authentic African dresses and clothing. The step show will be performed by local fraternity members.

• Tell Me a Story Program at FRC – Grab your seats fast because the space is filling up for the Military Child Education Coalition Tell Me a Story program. Our own Maj. Gen. Jeffrey J. Schloesser will be reading the beloved story, Mercedes and the Chocolate Pilot, to children at the Family Readiness Center from 3 – 4:30 p.m. The story written by Margot Theis Raven takes place in Berlin during the post-WWII Berlin Airlift. There is no cost to attend the story telling event, but registration is required. Reserve your spot for this special day by going to the R.F. Sink Library and filling out a registration form. The first 120 families to sign up for Tell Me a Story will receive a copy of Mercedes and the Chocolate Pilot, to read and share at home. (270) 798-5729.

• Robotech Comes to D.W. Rec. – After ending in a cliffhanger in 1986, the last exciting chapter of Robotech is being released. The Dale Wayrynen Recreation Center will have a free showing of Robotech: The Shadow Chronicles at 3 p.m. The film won the Best Animated Sci-Fi Feature at the 2006 International Horror and Sci-Fi Film Festival. Robotech is an

animated sci-fi series that introduced an entire generation to Japanese animation. A few lucky fans will take home a DVD copy of Robotech: The Shadow Chronicles. The showing is free to attend and refreshments will be available. (270) 798-7391.

U.S. Army Jazz Band at TPAC – The internationally acclaimed U.S. Army Jazz Ambassadors of Washington, D.C., will continue its long history of presenting free public performances with a concert at 7:30 p.m. at War Memorial Auditorium. The historic landmark across the street and plaza from TPAC, War Memorial Auditorium will be set up for open floor dancing and traditional seating for the concert. Tickets are available on a “first come/first served basis” by sending a self-addressed, stamped envelope to TPAC at P.O. Box 190660, Nashville, TN 37219. • Spring Turkey Seminar at Waholi Pavilion – Join Outdoor Recreation on as retired Col. Jack Oliver presents the Spring Turkey Seminar at Waholi Pavilion. During the seminar, hunters will get valuable information on the changes in turkey hunting including information on the increased hen population in the area. The seminar is aimed at helping hunters of all ages and experience levels increase their odds of getting a turkey. The seminar starts at 7 p.m. Anyone interested in turkey hunting this spring is encouraged to attend. Door prizes will be given away during the seminar. Pitch, Hit and Run at Heritage Park – The Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department will host a Pitch, Hit and Run competition for young baseball enthusiasts at Heritage Park, 1241 Peacher’s Mill Rd., Clarksville. Pitch, Hit and Run is a national grassroots program giving youngsters the opportunity to participate in an exciting baseball skills competition that showcases their pitching, hitting, and running abilities. OSC VICE Night Tickets On Sale Now – The Officer’s Spouses Club is now selling tickets for their VICE Night event to be held at the Bruce Convention Center in Hopkinsville March 16 at 6:30 p.m. For the first time in six years, the OSC is holding the much loved “Casino Night.” This event features dinner, Black Diamond Casino Company and live music provided by Hypertension! All proceeds raised at this event are filtered back into the military community through scholarship and grant programs. • Comedy Weekend at Froggy’s – Every Thursday – Saturday, Froggy’s hosts comedy weekend. Through Saturday come see Jamie Blanchard and headliner Chris Barnes. There will be a $5 cover during the comedy weekend. Froggy’s is always family friendly until 9 p.m. After 9 p.m. everyone must be 18 to participate in Froggy’s fun. • Kindermusik at SKIESUnlimited – It’s time for new sessions of Kindermusik to begin at SKIESUnlimited. Classes are available for children who are newborn to 7 years old. • Bridge to Terabithia Reading Program – Many of the popular Disney children’s films are based on great books. The newest Walt Disney film coming to theaters Feb. 16, Bridge to Terabithia, is the heart warming adventure story of two children, their friendship, and their imaginations. In honor of this new release of yet another Disney film based on a book, the R.F. Sink Library is hosting the Bridge to Terabithia Reading Program sponsored by Walt Disney Pictures and Walden Media. Through March 6, children ages 9 – 15 who read and return a book that became a Disney movie will receive an entry form for a weekly drawing. The library will hold a total of four drawings on Feb. 13, 20, and 27, and March 6. The giveaway prize packages each week will include a book and DVD. (270) 798-5729.

• Youth Soccer Registration – Youth from 4 years old – fifth grade may register for soccer through March 2 or until all spaces are filled. Youth in sixth – 12th grade may register through Feb. 23 or until all spaces are filled. All players who wish to register for a team must be enrolled in Child and Youth Services, and have a current physical (within one year) when they sign-up. The registration fee is $40 for pre-K – fifth grade and $45 for grades six – 12. Sign up at Taylor Youth Center or at Central Enrollment. • Youth Running Club – Boys and girls in fourth to eighth grade are encouraged to register for this great fitness opportunity. The registration fee is $50 for a two month session. This includes a warm-up outfit and all racing fees. The Running Club will participate in at least one 5K race each month. All runners who wish to participate must be registered through CYS and have a current physical. • Weekly Tournaments – There is never a dull moment at D.W. Rec. Join them each and every week for weekly tournaments. Mondays feature a 9-ball tournament at 7 p.m. and WWE at 8 p.m. On Tuesdays you can belt out your favorite tunes with karaoke at 7 p.m. It is patron’s choice night on Wednesdays at 7 p.m. when participants can choose from a number of games. The cards are flying on Thursday night with the spades tournament that begins at 6 p.m. On Fridays, test your skills with the table tennis tournament at 7 p.m., and rack ’em up on Saturday afternoon as the 8-ball tournament kicks off at 3 p.m. (270) 798-7391.

• Children’s Story Time and Activity Hour – Join R.F. Sink Library every Thursday for Children’s Story Time and Activity Hour. Each week presents a new story for young imaginations with Story Time. Children may attend either the morning session from 10:30-11 a.m. or the afternoon session from 1:30-2 p.m. Activity Hour will follow Story Time each week, beginning at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., where there is always a new craft project for children to tackle.
